Tim Wollaeger
Sanderling Ventures
Chairman of the Board
Tim has nearly thirty years' experience in the medical products and biotechnology fields in both corporate management and venture capital. Mr. Wollaeger joined Sanderling as a Managing Director in 2002, as head of the firm's San Diego office.
Mr. Wollaeger began his career at Baxter International where his last position was Vice President and General Manager of the Company's operations in Mexico. In 1983 he joined Hybritech, Inc., San Diego's first biotechnology company, as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Following Hybritech's acquisition by Eli Lilly & Co in 1986, he became a founding General Partner of Biovest, a San Diego based venture capital firm. At Biovest, he helped found and remained an active Board member in Pyxis, Vical and Biosite. All three of these companies became public and Pyxis was acquired by Cardinal Health in 1996 for a $1 billion.
He then helped found Columbia Hospital Corporation in 1990 and was a Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors until 1994, when he left to found the venture capital firm Kingsbury Capital Partners. Kingbury's investments include Aurora Biosciences, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Phamis Software, Health Data Sciences, Senomyx, Sub-Q, TKT, Althea, and Digirad.
In San Diego, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995 and Corporate Director of the Year in 2001. Mr. Wollaeger earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale in 1966, served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for three years, and earned an MBA from The Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1971.

Mark de Bruin, R.Ph.
Asteres Inc.
Mark most recently served as senior vice president and president of pharmacy for Sears Holdings. Formerly, Mark was the executive vice president of pharmacy for Rite Aid and vice president of pharmacy for Albertsons. Mark also held several senior positions at American Stores Company, including General Manager, and served as Vice President of RxAmerica, a pharmacy benefits management company. Mark previously served as Chairman of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores-Policy Council, Chairman of the National Association of Chain Drugstores Pharmacy & Technology Annual Meeting and as a member of the Federal Medicaid Commission, appointed by HHS Secretary, Michael O. Leavitt. Mark is a graduate of the University of Utah, College of Pharmacy.

Linda Pinney
Asteres Inc.
Linda, Founder of Asteres Inc., was the CEO of The StartUp Lab, Inc., a venture development company serving venture capital firms and venture-backed companies. Previously she founded and was Chairman & CEO for DNA Dynamics, Inc., a top 10 finalist for San Diego’s most innovative new company of the year award in 1999. Linda was hired as the 13th employee of Pyxis Corporation and served as Vice President of Business Development for 10 years. Linda successfully developed, patented and led Pyxis into new product offerings including SupplyStation, Pyxis Data System and PyxisStation. She also created and led the Alternate Site Division to $20 million in revenue in two years. Linda took Pyxis outside healthcare constructing a licensing and equity deal with a private company pursuing industry applications of Pyxis products. Pyxis enjoyed a successful IPO in 1992 and was sold to Cardinal Health for close to $1 billion in 1996. Prior to Pyxis, Linda was in business development for Sharp HealthCare and Centinela Hospital. She has a Bachelor of Science in Genetics from U.C. Davis, and a Masters in Business & Healthcare Administration from U.S.C.

James P. Mastrian, R.Ph.
Mastrian's long and distinguished career began after his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh in 1965 when he joined Peoples Drug Stores, Inc., as a Pharmacist. Over the years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including President and General Manager of Gray Drug Fair stores; Senior Vice President, Merchandising and Marketing for the Sherwin-Williams Company; Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing of Office Max, Inc. In July 1998, he joined Rite Aid as an Executive Vice President of Category Management. He served as Executive Vice President of Marketing, Logistics and Pharmacy Services before being named the company's Chief Operating Officer in 2005.
Mastrian's decades of experience in the retail drug industry led him to receive the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Pharmacy and most recently received the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.

Kevin Tripp, R.Ph.
Kevin Tripp has over 30 years of leadership and strategic planning expertise in the pharmacy and grocery store industry. Most recently he held the position of Executive Vice President; President, Retail Midwest at SUPERVALU INC. where he also was a member of the investment committee, executive council, and the human resource and people committee.
Tripp joined SUPERVALU INC. through the 2006 acquisition of Albertsons, Inc., where he was Executive Vice President, Drug Operations and President, Drug Store Division, as well as a member of the corporation’s executive council that directed food and drug operations in 37 states.
Throughout his career, he has held positions in grocery and drug store operations, pharmacy operations, managed care, pharmacy marketing and regional management. He also was the executive sponsor, for M.E.S.A., a women’s affinity organization for Albertsons, Inc.
Tripp is a registered pharmacist and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Wyoming. He also completed the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Negotiating Skills Program and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
A distinguished alumni recipient from the University of Wyoming, he also serves on their advisory committee. As a board member of S.I.F.E. (Students in Free Enterprise), he has many opportunities to work with students as a mentor.
Tripp’s prior affiliations were with National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) as an executive board member, executive committee member and charitable foundation board member. He also served as a board member for the University of Southern Nevada, College of Pharmacy.

Eve M. Kurtin, PharmD
Pacific Venture Group
Dr. Kurtin has over 20 years of experience as a healthcare executive and is a founding member of Pacific Venture Group (PVG). PVG was founded in 1995 and currently manages over $210 million in venture funds, investing in all aspects of healthcare including biotechnology, healthcare information technology, healthcare services and medical devices. Ms. Kurtin serves on the board of PVG companies Asteres, Centerre Healthcare Corporation, Familymeds, Vivant and Symbion (NASDAQ: SMBI) and is responsible for PVG’s investment in Radiant Research. Dr. Kurtin was also responsible for PVG’s investment in Zone Labs, recently sold to CheckPoint Software (NASDAQ: CHKP) and for Phase Forward (NASDAQ: PFWD) which completed a successful IPO in July 2004.
In addition Dr. Kurtin is a founding member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors, and also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Harold Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at The Anderson School at UCLA, the President’s Advisory Council for Barnard College, and the Board of Trustees for the American College of Physicians Foundation.
Dr. Kurtin received a Doctorate of Pharmacy from University of Pacific and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Stuart J.M. Collinson, Ph.D.
Forward Ventures
Dr. Collinson is a partner at Forward Ventures, a life science venture capital firm based in San Diego. Previously Dr. Collinson was Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Aurora Biosciences Corporation where he completed a merger with Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., valuing Aurora at $600 million in 2001.
Before Aurora, Dr. Collinson was Chief Executive Officer of privately held Andaris Limited where he completed a merger with Quadrant plc (now part of Elan Corporation plc). He held senior management positions at GlaxoWellcome plc (now GlaxoSmithKline plc) and Baxter International Inc. and was a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group.
Dr. Collinson is a director of Affinium Pharmaceuticals Inc., Asteres Inc., Essentialis Inc., Sequel Pharmaceuticals Inc., Tioga Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Dr. Collinson was awarded an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Oxford. |
